NEPRA has approved of the Government’s decision of increasing Electricity prices
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has passed the decision of Snowballing
basic electricity bills, according to which, household customers
will pay RS 1.68 more, while commercial and industrial customers will pay RS
1.39 more than before.
According to
the orders given by NEPRA, the customers consuming 200 units per month will not
face this new expense. These orders will be fulfilled with effect from 1
November 2021.
This
increase in the expense of electricity has to be followed by all electricity
companies across the country containing(K-Electric). However, the government
will receive 135 billion yearly.
Conclusion:
The
government has once again stunned the public with these new orders. In a state
where everything is already quite expensive for the average citizen, the poor
are dying of hunger and inflation, this decision has once again brought rainy
days for the people. The government should show a little sympathy to the poor
but instead, they are adding to their discomfort each day.
